I watch with fascination.
In recent years, various sections of the IT industry have been trying to invent a spreadsheet that has as much of the functionality of Excel as possible, that will work in a 2-tier architecture. (also known as cloud spreadsheet alternatives)
Why?
We can already do this with Excel. We could do this with Excel since the late 1990s. Excel is designed to be able to do this.
Doh!
I despair!
The best client app that mimics the functionality of Excel … is Excel.
Here’s a challenge.
Show me any online solution, with any Excel-alternative, and I will recreate the same functionality with Excel in a matter of minutes.
